May 23, 2006 - It won't be long now. In just a little more than two week's time, Nintendo will launch the long-awaited redesign for the Nintendo DS system. The DS Lite is coming, with its brighter screen and smaller, tighter design, and Nintendo has released to retailers the box art for the next generation touch screen system.
The DS Lite will launch in one color: Polar White, a very iPod-like hue. The system will release on June 11th for 129.99, the same price as the current generation Nintendo DS. Here's the package art to the US system, the design that will be staring back at you from retail shelves in less than half a month:

It's a simple design, not quite as basic and subtle as the Japanese packaging but definitely along the same lines as the original Nintendo DS box.

If you haven't preordered one yet, perhaps you might want to take this opportunity - if the launch in Japan was any indication, retailers may have a hard time keeping the DS Lite in stock when it ships on June 11th.
