Has the bubble finally burst...er...cracked for the seemingly invincible DS?
News is circulating like wildfire around the internet that the DS Lite, Nintendo's update of the portable DS, has faulty hinges. A few DS Lite owners are reporting that the hinges on their device are cracking, and there are even pictures to prove it. Not only that, but it is reported that Nintendo's warranty doesn't cover this problem. The company charges fifty dollars to fix the cracked hinge.
According to the pictures that I have seen, the crack refers to the hinge that opens up the top screen. Quite frankly, there shouldn't be too much cause for concern. These seem to be isolated incidents (ten people having hinge problems is by no means a mass problem), and the problem appears to not affect game playability or functionality.
